If there's one thing the Costa del Sol does almost better than anywhere else in Europe, it's golf. Over 70 courses line this stretch of coast, but for serious players and serious property buyers a handful of names sit on a tier of their own.

Nueva Andalucía's Golf Valley

Let's start where most golf loving buyers do: the Golf Valley of Nueva Andalucía. Tucked just behind Puerto Banús, this is arguably the most concentrated stretch of quality golf real estate on the entire coast. Las Brisas, Los Naranjos, Aloha and Magna Marbella sit within minutes of each other, each with its own character but all sharing those unmistakable views of La Concha looming above the fairways.

From a property perspective, this is one of the most reliable corners of the Costa del Sol. Villas backing directly onto the fairways of Las Brisas and Aloha are among the most sought after addresses in Marbella, while modern apartment complexes around Magna and Los Naranjos offer brilliant value for buyers who want the lifestyle without the villa price tag. Demand here barely slows in the off-season golfers want access year round, and that keeps both rental yields and resale values strong.

Valderrama — The Crown Jewel

Drop down the coast to Sotogrande and you arrive at Real Club Valderrama, often called "Europe's Augusta." Famous for hosting the 1997 Ryder Cup, and with its cork oak lined fairways and notoriously demanding greens, it's a course that humbles even the world's best. And it's about to do so again, LIV Golf returns to Valderrama from June 5 to 7, with Jon Rahm captaining Legión XIII and Sergio García leading Fireballs GC, alongside stars including Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson.

La Reserva de Sotogrande

Just up the hill from Valderrama, La Reserva offers something a little different a more relaxed, resort style feel with arguably some of the finest panoramic sea and mountain views on the coast. The course is challenging without being punishing, and the surrounding development (including The Beach, the inland lagoon) has made La Reserva one of the most desirable addresses for buyers who want golf, privacy and family friendly amenities all in one place.

Sotogrande: A Property Market of Its Own

Sotogrande isn't just a golf destination it's a lifestyle bubble unlike anywhere else in southern Spain. Discreet, gated, and built around polo, sailing and golf, it attracts buyers who want privacy over prestige. Frontline golf villas at Valderrama and La Reserva sit at the top of the market, but the wider area also offers contemporary townhouses, beachside apartments at La Reserva's The Beach, and beautifully classic Andalusian villas in Sotogrande Alto and Costa. The Sotogrande brand has only sharpened, and international interest particularly from the US and Middle East has noticeably picked up.

La Hacienda Links

Heading further west toward San Roque, La Hacienda (formerly Alcaidesa) has quietly reinvented itself into one of the must play stops on the coast. Its links course is a rarity in this part of Spain proper coastal links golf with the Mediterranean on one side and Gibraltar's Rock on the horizon. Wild, atmospheric, and a genuine change of pace from the manicured parkland courses further east.

The La Sala Golf Day

Of course, golf on the Costa del Sol isn't just about who's holding the trophy at Valderrama. Closer to home, we're proud to run the Sala Group Golf Classic, a monthly event that's been going strong for over 15 years.

The format is simple: a four man team, a shotgun start, and a day spent on some of the finest courses the coast has to offer. Anyone who qualifies and can put a team together is welcome to join. After the round, players head back to one of Sala Group's venues for prize givings, refreshments and the part that really matters, knowing that the money raised is distributed to selected charities in need.

Fifteen years in, the Sala Golf Classic has become a fixture in the local calendar: great golf, good company, and a genuine contribution to causes across the community. If you'd like to put a team forward, get in touch we'd love to see you on the tee.
