Why it's popular
Puerto Romano is a quiet, established residential area in the hills of El Padrón, on the eastern side of Estepona, and is sometimes counted as part of Las Lomas. It is a different place from Puente Romano on Marbella's Golden Mile.
Buyers choose it for space, gardens and a peaceful, green setting rather than a frontline apartment, while staying close to everything: the beaches of the New Golden Mile, Laguna Village and the supermarkets are around five minutes away by car, and Estepona centre is about ten. Some homes and plots on the higher ground have views of the sea.
Location
The area sits on the slopes of El Padrón, on Estepona's eastern side. Laguna Village, the El Padrón beach and supermarkets are about five minutes' drive away, Estepona's centre is around ten minutes, and the beaches of the New Golden Mile are close by.
History
Puerto Romano was developed mainly in the late 1980s and 1990s, with traditional Andalusian-style townhouses and detached villas. Since the 2000s it has grown with individual plots and modern custom-built villas, so the area now mixes original homes with contemporary designs.
Property types
Townhouses and detached villas make up most of the area, many in traditional Andalusian style and set around communal pools and gardens. Newer custom-built villas and a number of building plots, some with sea views, add variety.
Average prices
Puerto Romano is more affordable than the beachfront complexes a few minutes away. In October 2026 a refurbished villa here is listed with La Sala Homes at €1,295,000. Townhouses and building plots also come onto the market; ask us for what is available now.
Things to do
Laguna Village, a few minutes away, has shops, cafés and restaurants by the beach, and the beaches of El Padrón and the New Golden Mile are close. Estepona's old town and port are around ten minutes' drive, and several golf courses are within easy reach.
